The Connersville Police Department would like to remind citizens of Indiana Fireworks law.
Individuals must be 18 to purchase fireworks.
A person 18 years of age or older must be present when anyone under 18 is using or possessing fireworks.
Fireworks may be used only on the user's property, the property of someone who is granted permission for fireworks to be discharged, or a place designated by the Indiana Fire Marshal for the discharge of consumer fireworks.
Fireworks may be discharged between the hours of 9 am and 11 pm any day with the exception of Memorial Day, Forth of July, Labor Day and New Year's Eve when fireworks may be discharged until midnight.
Individuals who violate this law can be charged with a class "C" infraction. Causing property damage while using fireworks is a misdemeanor offense. Causing injury or death by recklessly, knowingly or intentionally using fireworks are felony offenses.
